No. This is an independent, unofficial calculator built from the published TNERC tariff order. For your exact bill, always refer to TANGEDCO / TNPDCL directly.
Official bills can include electricity duty, meter rent, arrears, penal charges for exceeding sanctioned load, and power-factor adjustments, none of which this calculator models. It also assumes your meter reading exactly matches the billing period entered.
Your total consumption for the billing period is split into slabs (for example 0–50, 51–100, 101–200 units). Each slab is charged at its own rate, and the Government subsidy applied to each slab depends on which overall consumption band your total falls into.
Most domestic (LT-IA) consumers in Tamil Nadu are billed once every two months (bi-monthly). Some categories and circles bill monthly — check your bill for your actual cycle, and select the matching option in the calculator.
LT (Low Tension) connections are supplied at low voltage and cover most homes, shops and small industries. HT (High Tension) connections are supplied at higher voltage, typically for larger industrial and commercial loads, and are billed with a contract demand charge in kVA rather than a connected load charge in kW.
The current figures are from TNERC – T.O. No. 6 of 2025, dated 30-06-2025, effective 01-07-2025. TNERC revises tariffs periodically through fresh tariff orders — this site is updated whenever a new order is published.
